Portable Appliance testing (PAT)

The Electricity at Work Regulations Act 1989 states that: all electrical equipment needs to be reasonably maintained to prevent danger to the user.
To demonstrate this, CAV recommend an annual PAT test of most theatrical and audio visual equipment.


  • CAV service technicians have the necessary knowledge to be able to carry out on site repairs if necessary to enable your equipment passes its inspection successfully.
  • If an item cannot be repaired on site we can offer to organise repair in our dedicated workshops and then return to you fully tested.
  • All PAT testing sessions are followed with a thorough certificate of testing which may be required by your insurance company

Equipment Servicing

All lighting and sound equipment should be regularly serviced and cleaned to prevent the unnecessary build up of dirt etc that can lead to overheating, damage and even failure of equipment.

  • Excessive build up, particular in equipment that require fans to keep cool, can be extremely damaging and potentially dangerous.


  • Our service technicians will fully test the operation of your equipment and notify you of any defects, and offer to repair if required.

Electrical Installation Testing

CAV can also provide full testing of new or existing electrical installations such as lighting bars and dimmers. All these tests are carried out by a fully qualified NICEIC electrician.
